Aversion.com has a couple of interesting reviews up for reading pleasure. The new These Arms are Snakes, The Clash reissue, and The Thrills new one all have reviews. But really, what releases are you guys (and gals) interested in? And you can’t say the new mewithoutYou, because it doesn’t come out until Tuesday. Is there any music that you guys really care about, or are all of you jaded?
Sceneitall interviews Jon Parker of Nodes Of Ranvier. Their favorite band to play with? Copeland.
It’s been slow and sporadic around here lately, I know. I apologize for that. The past two months have been filled with moving my wife to Flushing, Queens (that’s in NY) and finding work so I can live with my wife (I’m still working in PA). Thankfully I found work in Manhattan at a nice university, so things should be getting back to normal around here. Thanks for sticking around even this long. Heh.
Also, we’re moving the whole site from MovableType to WordPress. From what I’ve been told by some pretty smart people this will speed up the commenting process. We’ll also have comment RSS feeds again! Wee!
So again, thanks for keeping with Buzzgrinder. Stay tuned for more exciting details.
The fine folk at Tooth and Nail are getting the word out about their big CMJ Showcase in NYC next month. There will be a Solid State / Victory Records showcase on October 14th at CBGB’s. Bands include Bury Your Dead, A Perfect Murder, He Is Legend, and Norma Jean, among others. On October 16th you got Project 86, mewithoutYou (going on at 6:15pm?!), Mae, Underoath, and Further Seems Forever at the Knitting Factory.
A fella named Joel wrote: “a local radio station here is reporting that Blindside got all their gear (equipment, computers, ipods, passports, money) stolen in dallas and their show tonight in bartlesville has been canceled. Too bad. I heard they were gonna do some weird electronica stuff like the hidden track on A Thought Crushed My Mind.” Anyone hear anything on this?

The long awaited release of Social Distortion’s follow up to their the 1995 “White Light, White Heat and White Trash” is out today. “Sex, Love and Rock n Roll” was released this morning on Time Bomb Recordings after about two years of rumors about when it would be. You can pick it up at Bestbuy today for $9.99 and listen to some cliche filled, angst ridden, good old rock n roll from a legendary band.
From my inbox, “I went to the (Stretch Armstrong), Chariot, and Underoath show in Columbus OH last night, and Underoath wasn’t there. Rumor has it that they are breaking up, but Chris from SAS assured everyone that they aren’t breaking up.” From the Underoath website, “We’re really sorry to announce that the Underoath is not playing the Columbus show tonight and the rest of the headline shows this tour. We feel terrible to do this to all our friends that were expecting to see us, but we must go home to help a friend through a problem.”
Brian Wilson will release his legendary lost masterpiece “Smile”, tomorrow. The album is a new recorded version based upon the original tapes that he was working on back in 1967. If you don’t know about this album then you are missing out on one of pop music’s greatest stories. This music is trippy and blows away most everything that is coming out today. Wilson was way ahead of his time and “Smile” is the ultimate concept album.
