Watch a live “krump” battle with Tommy the Clown of the documentary RIZE from the XBOX 360 Launch Party.. If that last battle’r in the tank top looks familiar to anyone who frequents Decapolis, its Chance Glasco from Infinity Ward (Call of Duty franchise), also a former Buzzgrinder Contributor. Its pretty nice.
With Ebay’s rules I’m not quite for sure why this hasn’t been pulled down yet, but an Ebayer posted a “satirical” auction for Madden 2006 on Ebay expressing his disdain for the title and EA in general. Its pretty funny.
From Future Destination:
The Apprentice has posted a free original Christmas song titled “Rejoice” on their myspace. The song will be up until Christmas for free download and then it will be removed. This is an internet exclusive track. Check it out at myspace.com/theapprentice
The Firefox 1.5 browser had its official launch today. I’ve been using the release client 3 a couple of days and thing seem to be running quite smoothly. I haven’t delved too far into the improvements but have noticed that pages seem to load much faster. Check out Mozilla’s site and see for yourselves.
The podcast king, Leo Laporte has started a new show with Amber MacArthur on web technologies and this weeks episode is an interview with Firefox creators over the new release. If interested follow this link to hear it.
Run-DMC is finally hanging up the Adidas:
“I put those shoes on and it was a wrap,” DMC said. “I finally found the sneaker I was looking for. Finally I could get out of my shell-toes.”
His new kicks are by, “the Upscale French brand, Le Coq Sportif.” [link, Kottke]
Cut Copy - Bright Like Neon Love Usually I hate drum machine / synth pop whatever / and low male vocals sung over top which sound like they’re falling asleep. Alas, this is somewhat dancy, fun, and breathes a little life all at the same time. Is this 70’s dance party pop? A re-birth of mid 80’s science punk? You’re Your guess is as good as mine. [Modular]
The Fire Still Burns - Keeping Hope Alive With members able to put Lifetime and Ensign on their resume The Fire Still Burns puts together a great hardcore punk album that will spread some smiles and sing alongs among the old heads in the house. Keeping Hope Alive is a guitar heavy album with no cliche breakdowns or “chugg chugg wee!” theatrics. Straight ahead hardcore done right. [Blackout Records | The Fire Still Burns]
Fielding - fielding A self-titled album of janggling guitars, melodies for miles, and slick, radio ready production. Some UK sounding pop with American standard rock fare you’re left with Fielding, one of the latest Militia Groups signings. [The Militia Group]
Dear and The Headlights - S/T I wrote about these guys back in September, and got their CD in the mail a month later. I said it before, so I’ll say it again: “Almost your standard singer-songwriter fare, but with a full band. And good.” [Dear and the Headlights]
Staple - Of Truth and Reconciliation Reminds me of the late Orange 9mm - heavy on the guitars, clear bass lines, and lyrics you can understand. Some of the vocal delivery reminds me of MewithoutYou. Saying that, Staple is no Orange 9mm / MewithoutYou. Maybe more like P.O.D. but without the hip-hop? [Flicker Records]
Aletheian -Dying Vine DISCLAIMER: I’m friends with these guys. Been following them for years. Big fan. With that said, this album deserves to be on every major metal Top 10 list for 2005. And they should be touring with God Forbid or Meshuggah. Or both. Amazing solos, drum work, production - it’s all here. And they don’t even wear much make-up. If you like metal (or metalcore, euro metal, whatever) you need to pick this up. These guys aren’t even on a label, which makes no sense at all (well, besides them playing it smart and not signing their life away). [Aletheian]
The Fully Down - Don’t Get Lost in a Movement Keyboard beeps and melodies, big distorted guitars… you know where this is going. Huge sounding and super studio polish leaves you with Don’t Get Lost in a Movement. Even with the double bass, the palm mutes, I’m still running for the dental floss after listening to this sugary mix of pop punk / and “emo core.” [Fearless Records]
Suffering & The Hideous Thieves - Ashamed Back porches, dimmly lit clubs, living rooms with friends; all these places sound welcoming to Ashamed. Dirty and dim, or smiling bright, Suffering & The Hideous Thieves manage just about every emotion and that’s without even singing a note. Bravo to a band who pours so much out of one CD. [Lujo Records]
DrivenFarOff has reported that Funeral For A Friend has cancelled their US tour.
Their drummer, Ryan has a stomach infection and doctors have informed him to that he needs to rest and cannot travel. It is unfortunately too last minute for the band to get a replacement drummer for December so they are cancelling the US tour.
Did you know that the Fall Of Troy was the band of the day over at SPIN? Writes Emily Zemler:
“the Fall of Troy’s instrumentals possess an experimental urgency possessed by few of their peers.”
Take that Equal Vision Records label-mates! Looks like some fans have shown up on the SPIN message board, too.
Hmmm… this is maybe the 3rd or 4th time taking a stab at this: the Buzzgrinder Forum Lounge. A simple message board, with no frills right now. Check it out and let me know what we might need. I don’t do message boards very often, soooo….
