Designer Jeans and an Upside Down Cross

This one made me chuckle:

A punk-rock style, trendy tight fit and affordable price have made Cheap Monday jeans a hot commodity among young Swedes, but what has people talking is the brand’s ungodly logo: a skull with a cross turned upside down on its forehead.

Says Bo Larsson of the Lutheran Church of Sweden, “I don’t think it’s much to be horrified about.”

UPDATE: Here’s the offending logo:

Comics On iTunes

First audio, then tv and now Comic books are joining the list of whats available at iTunes. 12 Gauge Comics are putting up a few “Comicast” episodes of their issues for download. The comicast is “..something of a hybrid between a simple digital version of a comic, CrossGen’s Comics on the Web (in terms of voice acting), and where things are headed, in that it has its own navigation system, which steers readers through the content.” As far as I know they are free.

My Chemical Roundup

This is why I’ve always loved Buddyhead, for gems like this:

Those geeks in My Chemical Romance have a dedicated room set up backstage every night for online gaming where they play some fantasy war game.

Gerard Way (in a different article) then talks about his “dark” lyric writing:

There’s so much death in my life that it’s just a constant. If it’s not someone dying, it’s someone in the hospital.”

Deep, man. Deep.

Pedro The Lion Breaks Up

Winners never quit, but TW Walsh did. Looks like Pedro the Lion is no more:

… a significant factor is that i was finding it hard to support my family with the sporadic income that being a professional musician on this level provided. the amount of travel required(100+ days a year) was difficult for me and my family to sustain.

Over 100 days a year and no steady income? That’s downright criminal. Also, check out this message board posting, apparently from Pedro The Lion management. [thanks, Matt]

Who is the new Eulogy Band?

In the new year Eulogy Recordings will be announcing a new band. From their press release:

Keep an eye out in the New Year for a big announcement from us about the newest member of the Eulogy family. We’re really excited to be adding this positive hardcore punk band to our roster. Yep, POSITIVE HARDCORE-PUNK band. Think Lifetime and Saves the Day. Get Excited.

Any guesses? Rumors?

France To Legalize P2P

France could become the first country to legalize peer to peer file sharing. The parliament passed an amendment to prupose such a move by a 30-28 vote. The amendment is translated by the above linked article as stating, “”Authors cannot forbid the reproductions of works that are made on any format from an online communication service when they are intended to be used privately and when they do not imply commercial means directly or indirectly.” Verrrry interesting.
