I’ve been listening to this album since it showed up in my mailbox last fall. This was during a time of moving to Queens and getting a job in mid-town Manhattan, which explains this massive delay, but this album is still the soundtrack to my underground adventures on the subway and late night walks home.
Honestly, sure, this is spazzy-rock-and-roll fronted by that higher register screaming, but dang, this is solid stuff. Art Damage doesn’t get too bogged down in the whole, “Oh man, let’s be sure to use lots of breakdowns” and such, and seems a little more content in creating something unique in its own right. You know how some kids just don’t get Converge? Fear Before the March of Flames is no Converge, but it’s the same idea. Artsy hardcore, or whatever else it’s being called this week. I happen to love it.
