Virginia School Surplus Mac Sale Goes Wrong!

The Henrico County school system in Virginia decided to rid themselves of 1,000 surplus 4-year old iBooks in the Virginia Internation Speedway for around $50.00. Just as suspected, a near-riot ensued on the day of the sale. According to CNN.COM one woman went as far as to “wet Herself” to retain her place in line. Shesh.

$50 for an iBook is a very nice price.

and why is it that every time a story comes without a link there is some knowitall curtly asking for a link? I mean seriously… it’s fine to ask for a link but you can at least be nice about it…

50 for an ibook would be nice if it was a g4. they were getting rid of dinosaurs – not the hottness.

    people rioted over archaic beasts.

Yea, those are old G3 iBooks. That’s one of the first ones I bought, and for real – those were solid machines. Too bad it fell and the monitor broke. Hah. But we just hooked it up to an external monitor and it works just fine. Much better than a four year old PC :)

I wonder if half these people even realized that they were Mac’s which they most likely aren’t familiar with and not the old familiar, buggy, virus ridden Window’s pc.

Not only was it stupid, but it was costly. Independent Sources estimated the lost revenue to be over a quater million dollars by not putting them on eBay.
