From, uh, my AIM window comes news straight from the source. Life In Your Way just wrapped up recording at Ben Kaplan and GGGarth’s The Farm studio in B.C., Canada. It was mixed by Bill Kennedy (Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crue).
The new album, Waking Giants, is set for a possible February 2007 release on Solid State Records.

The figure behind the name and title is of Odin and his eight-legged steed, Sleipnir. It was taken from this 8th century stone carving. “Oden”, though, is a fishy Japanese stew. Why these guys want to ally themselves with a soupy seafood dish is beyond me.
Listen to the audio interview I did with Leroy from War Of Ages. We talk about touring and lazer beams.
Their new album, Pride of the Wicked, is on sale for just $9.99.

Pretenders - Pretenders II remaster [amazon.com]
Release date: October 3, 2006
Two reissues from the band that put a “The” in front of their name only when they felt like it, and whose songs I never could stand for more than 5 seconds. Clean and simple designs that withstand the test of ruffled shirts and unusual sideburns.

Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello was arrested Thursday night while taking part in a Los Angeles area protest over immigrant hotel workers’ rights. Morelleo refused to remove himself from Century Boulevard which is the main entrance to the Los Angeles International Airport. He was quoted as saying before the march;
…These hotel workers by the airport make 20 per cent less wages than hotel workers around the rest of Los Angeles. We’re here to express our solidarity with them, to help them unionize and to help them close the gap between their sub-poverty wages and the millions and millions of dollars the people who own these hotels make.”
Prior to the demonstration Morello performed three songs with Ben Harper under the name Nightwatchman.
Linkin Park will depart from its nu-metal tinged sound on its forthcoming Rick Rubin produced LP in favor of “punk and classic-rock elements with vintage hip-hop beats” according to vocalist Chester Bennington. Bennington was quoted by MTV News as saying.
“We’re straying away from a lot of the predictable sounds we’ve had in the past, but there’s no question in your mind when you hear it that it’s Linkin Park…We’ve always said we write the music we write so that we can spread our wings as far as we want and try new things and go anywhere. I think we’re really going to prove that with this new record.”
Set Your Goals, who is currently on tour, have decided to perform a few acoustic dates. These shows include October 8th on Toronto’s Punkradiocast.com alongside the Loved Ones, October 9th on Alternative Press’ XM Satellite Radio show, and in Folsom, CA at It’s A Grind Cafe for a cancer benefit.
