Vote for Canada

Remember Canada, our Featured Band a couple of weeks ago? If you liked what you heard, you should head on over to Spin Magazine’s website and vote for them to be the band of the day, week, month or whatever.

Featured Band: Alexander the Great

Alexander the Great is from Bloomington, IN and makes their home on Crossroads of America Records (ran by Husband & Wife). Taking influence from Appleseed Cast, American Football and others, these boys have come with a pretty unique sound that, to my ears, stands alone to the others in its genre. They’ve just finished up a 5-song EP, Circumnavigation, and will be celebrating its release on December 2 at Banneker Center in their hometown. Listen

Lohan Appreciative, Disjointed

Lindsay Lohan, abuzz as usual with her possible Stevie Nicks role, wrote an embarassingly confusing and error-ridden tribute to the late director, Robert Altman.

“Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourselves’ (12st book) - everytime there’s a triumph in the world a million souls hafta be trampled on. - altman Its true. But treasure each triumph as they come … Be adequite. Lindsay Lohan.”

Suge Knight Vs. Snoop Dogg

Things are heating up between Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records founder Suge Knight. Dogg, who has had several arrests recently, always seems to escape any real jail time, which has his peers questioning him. In a recent interview with Page Six, Knight had a few choice words.

“Snoop is a rat. He’s a police informer. This is the only guy who never goes to jail no matter what. I don’t like rats.”

Blessthefall Blackballed in Kentucky

Matt Wilson, who books most of the shows in Lexington, Ky., under the auspices of Gold Five Productions, had a little run-in with Blessthefall, their merch guy and their 16-year-old groupies in Louisville, Ky.

Some 16 year old groupie … then goes to say that the band is the one who wants me to move (away from their merch table) cause they don’t want me to steal there merch. So now the story has changed from “You have to be VIP ” to “the band doesn’t want you to rob them.” … After BTBAM finishes, the merch guy turns his light on me … the band then starts heckling people to move unless they are buying their merch. Keep in mind none of the other merch guys around them are complaining about anything, and they actually don’t have as good as a spot as them.

Sounds like a real rowdy-dowd. He’s calling for a state-wide boycott of the band, and wants everyone to “give them hell.” What a predicament indeed!
