Chris Simpson (formally of The Gloria Record, Mineral) is currently in the studio mixing for a new album under his new project, Zookeeper. He’s written nearly 40 songs, so I’m sure whatever he releases will be nothing less than amazing.

From Chris Simpson himself:

The approach and process with Zookeeper have so far been almost completely open. We have recorded everything live in a room together in one take, with anywhere from 4 to 11 people playing, and even with a 20-person choir on a few tunes. The results are raw and at times seem barely held together. But there are truly magical moments that usually function as a pay off for whatever flaws our warts-and-all approach is yielding. I am overwhelmingly proud of the work, and feel they are all very strong compositions.

If you’re in the Fort Worth TX area, go check out Zookeeper tonight with The New Year and Low at the The Ridglea Theatre. Or, for those close to Austin, they’ll be playing with Starflyer 59 tomorrow night at The Parish.
