MxPx have parted ways with label SideOneDummy and re-signed with Tooth And Nail. The groups rarities collection Let It Happen will be re-released by T&N on November 21st with extra content.
UPDATE: This story, as reported by Alternative Press, is false. For an update, please see our latest post, MxPx Still With SideOneDummy.
whaaaaaaaaa???
More bands might still be together now if they would have just decided to re-sign with T&N.
Oh crap! That’s awesome!!
Just three new songs for the Let It Happen re-release
I wonder if the nail’s rise in popularity in both Christian and Secular circles influenced this at all? No matter what you think of the label you can’t argue with Underoath sales figures.
don’t forget the DVD of all their music videos for the re-release too.
I agree with you, Wes. That T&N has become kind of a household name for quality music is definetely a great thing to recognize. To see that MxPx - being one of T&N´s early bands - are coming back to the label makes it for an even more interesting look at what could evolve for the label. And for a band like MxPx!
My fingers are crossed that Calibretto 13 will come back and sign with Tooth & Nail.
Stavesacre should take note from Project 86 and Mxpx, and do the same.
vaginas
Man that is awesome news! I love me some MxPx.
maybe The Blamed will resign with T&N again
calibretto 13 rocked
wowee zowee.
Lame. T&N doesn’t care about MxPx.
Those guys are flaming ass holes. Cept the drummer
The drummer from the Blamed lives in Vegas. He’s in a band called Time Spent Burning with his old Mortification bandmate, Tony. They were also in Vengeance Rising.
Tooth and Nail Records doesn’t care about black people.
i don’t know if i would say that t&n has become known for it’s quality music. it has definitely become known for it’s marketable music, however. i’m sitting here, looking at their current roster, and it saddens me to see the high percentage of generic and forgettable bands on there right now. maybe i’m romanticizing, but it seems like there used to be, at least, a higher percentage of good, memorable acts affiliated with the label.
frodus.
the calibretto guy is already in another band thats actually much better.

i think if tooth and nail “didn’t care about mxpx” then the guys wouldn’t sign with them. with all the speculation on their “unfair treatment” i’m sure they’d be smart enough not to go back if they didn’t feel they’d get good treatmenet.
I’m not sure if they re-signed with T&N because on their lateset vidoe blog they say “it’s only a one time thing they have going with T&N. Like with 10 years and running.”
alternative press is a pretty credible source. i haven’t noticed this on other sites though.
just checked — they are back in the “active” roster on the T&N page.
Yeah I just watched that video blog on http://www.mxpx.com and it says it’s a one time deal. I’m not sure exactly what that means.
hmmm… wonder what the alt.press thing was about? that link i left actually says, “MxPx have announced that they have left SideOneDummy — who put out the band’s previous studio album, 2005’s Panic, as well as their recent rarities compilation, Let’s Rock — and have re-signed with Tooth & Nail Records”
i’m reading the MXPX forum and they said they were just put back as “active” today.
some kids in the forum mention the group commented in a press conference they’d no longer do contracts with labels for more than one album. and another said mike mentioned, “All I’m wondering is… If this is happening with “LIH Delux”… did the same thing happen with “Ten Years and Running”? Mike made a comment about it in the blog. He said “much like TYAR this is a one time thing”. Does anyone know???”
yo bitch ass get it straight

Even though Wes really is a “bitch ass”, it’s not his fault AP ran an inaccurate story.
f-ing AP. always making shit up.
value pac!
lol, value pac was 10x the punk band MxPx ever dreamed of being.
but anyway. signing on for one album is still signing on. whether they’ve left their other label or not.
they’ve got an album expected out on T&N. they’ll reap all the promotional benefits and make probably a fair amount of change off the sales of the disc.
this makes them part of the T&N active roster, and it could be said that “they’ve re-signed with Tooth & Nail”.
if they are still signed to Side1Dummy, meaning they still have contract obligations to fulfill, then that just means they’re on both labels at the same time. not that uncommon, really. T&N is releasing material that they hold the copy rights to. Side1Dummy holds the copy rights for albums THEY commission. two separate, non-conflicting, simultaneous contracts. again, not that unheard of.
Did you type that with a straight face?
Jalapeno was a good album. But they weren’t as good as MxPx.
hahaha, did i type that with a straight face? i don’t know, maybe. IMO mxpx is truly awesome. some of their releases i just couldn’t get into but it was them and Slick Shoes that introduced me to more than just “rock” so… i give them credit for that.
value pac was awesome, for what they were. maybe if their career had lasted for a comparative number of years, they’d have been better than mxpx, who knows…
Incognito by Value Pac was a fine album even if it did sound a bit like Social Distortion. It’s too bad the guys aren’t such great shape anymore. Or at least one of the guys.
By the way, all this talk about “re-signing” through all the various news mags including mine, sure has created a lot of buzz hasn’t it? Hmmmm…..
I bet T&N released a press release saying that MxPx has signed a new contract to re-join the active roster. Then I’m sure it bragged about how Let it Happen is the highest selling T&N cd to date. Then AP took it as leaving S1D for T&N.
That sucks
Definitely keep this thread going. It’s freaking hilarious.
Seriously, say something else ridiculous.

something else ridiculous
Bill Power reads Buzzgrinder? I haven’t heard from him since he stopped posting on Decapolis.
The 1/3 is ridiculous.

Stop slagging tooth and nail. Even though a lot of bands leave for not getting royalties, it’s the bands fault for signing the contract.
But, if you must slag tooth and nail, slag them for their cookie cutter crap bands. Slag them for being a poor mans victory.
i’m not expert in contractual law, but i’m 99% certain a courtroom decision would contradict this.
Bill, if I may address you by your first name, I really didn’t mean anything offensive by my statements. I was just surprised someone who could be called an industry “insider” reads Buzzgrinder. And the last time I remember seeing your name mentioned anywhere was probably the last time you posted on Decapolis. Please correct me, though, if I misinterpreted the intent of your last statement.
Oh, you’d be surprised at some of the folks that read Buzzgrinder, The 1/3. Seriously.
