Robert Pollard, the former frontman of everyone’s favorite pop rock grandpas, Guided by Voices, has put out two albums this calendar year. For many, that would be a stretch, but not for Pollard. And with Norma Happiness, his latest, you get the normal pop that he is known for (packaged in a 16-song album timed just over 30 minutes) and something else: consistency.
While Pollard has written songs that make you want to listen to rock music in the past, he’s also been a little less than consistent. However, that’s definitely not the case here. This is an album of Pollardian proportions that sticks with you from beginning to end.
Would I add this to my iPod: In a Robert Pollard minute!
