The New York Times writes an article, Truly Indie Fans,
“But 40 years after black musicians laid down the foundations of rock, then largely left the genre to white artists and fans, some blacks are again looking to reconnect with the rock music scene.”
The article includes the term “blipster,” (black+hipster) which is from UrbanDictionary, and it’s causing quite a stir.
Some people are upset, saying the term is racist, and some are saying,
“black musicians didn’t voluntarily “leave” the genre: rather, they were all but forced out.”

Says Dan Yemin about upcoming touring,
“We’ll be bringing some really rad bands with us, I think some of the best that the punk/HC scene in the US has to offer right now. Have no fear, there will be no pretty-boy mascara and hair gel crap.”
I keep seeing ads for this new show while I’m watching The Colbert Report, and she has nearly the same rainbow jacket as my wife, but I’m not sure I’ll be tuning in tomorrow night (2/1, 10:30pm). You?
While traveling from New York to Denver Tuesday morning, Patent Pending hit a patch of black ice and wrecked their van.
We gracefully 360′d 3 times before crashing into a snow ditch in the median. EVERYONE IS OK! Unfortunately our trailer was DESTROYED!!! You could see the inside of the trailer from the outside …
These cats are from Québec, home of socialized medicine and cheap perscription drugs. Thankfully they’ve also born this group, that of keyboard dance indie joy. Light hearted pops and bells, singing in french and good bottom end — well this just makes me want to dance (which I don’t do very often). Throw in some creative packaging and you’ve got yourself a party of the senses. I’m loving this.

This particular image file doesn’t seem to have very good resolution, or someone had saved it as a .jpg a dozen times. Whatever the case, I think Southern Lord may be getting a call from Stan Lee very soon.
Syndication law sense…tingling…
This will surely be fun:
“Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance are co-headlining a “metal” festival with Iron Maiden. We’re betting Chester Bennington takes one look at Eddie and breaks into a whiny song about being scared.”
The Police have confirmed that they will open this year’s Grammy Awards on Feb. 11. The apperance is expected to kick-off a year’s worth of reunion shows.
Courtney Love recently made mention to US Magazine that she’d been approached by American Idol’s producers as a possible replacement for Paula Abdul. So far, no confirmation on this subject has been issued by the Idol camp.
In the latest issue of NME, Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke speaks out against Jack White’s lack of a political agenda:
“I was amazed when Jack White said it wasn’t his job to be critical about foreign policy because he was being paid to be an entertainer. I thought that was treacherous because it’s complicit with the capitalist society.”
