Blipster Controversy

The New York Times writes an article, Truly Indie Fans,

“But 40 years after black musicians laid down the foundations of rock, then largely left the genre to white artists and fans, some blacks are again looking to reconnect with the rock music scene.”

The article includes the term “blipster,” (black+hipster) which is from UrbanDictionary, and it’s causing quite a stir.

Some people are upset, saying the term is racist, and some are saying,

“black musicians didn’t voluntarily “leave” the genre: rather, they were all but forced out.”

NYT should know better than to use anything from Urban Dictionary.

Jared, you’re comment could be considered completely asinine. Actually I do consider it asinine. “Cool nicknames”? Get over yourself.

That article is the most disgusting piece of garbage Ive read in quite some time. Poeple like this idiot are the reason why our society is busy going nowhere. I prey for a Bill Cosby intervention.
