Ozzy Osbourne fans invited to a fake pre-party for his show with Rob Zombie in Fargo, N.D., were arrested on the spot:
invitations were sent out to people who ignored court summons, didn’t pay child support, failed to pay fines, etc. Approximately forty Ozzy fans (or Rob Zombie fans, to be fair) responded to the invite and attended the bash, which was held at the concert venue by PDL Productions. Little did they know, PDL stood for “Paul D. Laney,” a county sheriff, and that all those meaty guys wearing PDL T-shirts were actually deputy sheriffs, probation officers and local DEA members. Rather than boozing, the miscreants who showed up got arrested on outstanding warrants. “It was more of a warrant party,” Laney joked.
Like moths to a flame…
This story is great.
Fricking.
Awesome.
That’s the most awesome thing i’ve ever heard.
haha
HELL YEAH!
It’s funny that it happened in Fargo. It sounds like something that might happen in a Coen Brothers movie.
The Simpsons did this on an episode.
They offered free boats.
Travis: Perhaps Sheriff Laney was watching one night and the ol’ light bulb went on?
the stupidity never ceases to amaze me
Would’ve fallen for it…
PDL FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111
Finally they figured out a clever way to get them.
“The Simpsons did this on an episode.
They offered free boats.”
…and free bikes. They did that to Bart & the bullies when Superintendent Chalmers came to inspect.
They must have known something was up when everyone in a PDL shirt had a mustache.
They just did the same thing in a town near me (Canton, OH). Instead of Ozzy, they mailed postcards to people with outstanding warrants and told them they won FREE TVs. I heard they gave them their TV, but then took them to jail.
Oh burn.
