Linkin Park CD Has Hidden DRM

A blogger with RockStarFamily.com explains his copy protection troubles with Linkin Park’s Minutes To Midnight.

“… I went to pop it into my Macbook Pro, the CD never showed up in iTunes. And it never displayed in the Finder. … So I popped it in my work PC, and it opened Windows Media Player and allowed the CD to play, but, when I tried to view the CD’s contents in Windows Explorer, it showed the tracks as 1kb files … The true files are hidden. They secretly employed some type of copy protection to prevent my fair use. … There was no disclaimer on the CD packaging.”

    The next mac commercial:

PC: Yeah, I’m totally rocking out to this new Linkin park. It’s got DRM so only I can play it

Mac: Man, I wouldn’t touch that shit with a ten foot pole.

Open any CD in Windows and they’ll show as 1kb files.

Alex, if that was the new Mac commercial, I’d go out and buy the most expensive Mac I could afford right away! That would be so incredibly awesome.

seriously, because some dude can’t get a CD to play on his computers, we’re supposed to get all up in arms about some secret and mysterious DRM that he can’t even identify?

if there is DRM on that disc, it should be labeled and something should be done about that. but, some unknown blogger going off about it isn’t really a legit news item, as far as i’m concerned.

hope this is a little more legit than the pipe-bomb limo “story” from yesterday.
