“Mute Math have recorded the original Transformers theme for the forthcoming movie and soundtrack to be released 7.3.07.”

I agree about the Chemical Brothers part, but Aphex Twin? Hardly techno, and his best stuff was early 90s and early 00s anyway.

Anyway, moot point, his most creative stuff is instrumental.

But the song, the Mute Math cover of the Transformers theme song. Sucks. I’d have prefered Utah Saints go early-90’s pop-industrial with it than this “let’s grow long hair and talk about feelings” crap I’m hearing.

Do not blame them for the lyrics. It was a cover. If you were to listen to their actual songs, you would find that Paul is quite the poet.

May I point out to you that the song posted on this page: http://www.myspace.com/mutemath is the one they actually did, and that the drums are not electronic. Darren (the drummer) really is that fast.

I highly doubt this was intended to be the radio single for the film. This was probably more of an ambiatic track. C’mon, you’ve got admit, Paul’s voice is incredibly unique.

So yeah. Calm down.

This song is too simple, the loops get old quick. “Want-to-buy” something from BT instead. The theme song is done by amateurs. Sounds like they used Fruit Loops while banging their heads on the keyboards.

I’ve been an all out MuteMath fanatic since I heard “Reset.” While a little on the boring side, I think this version of the theme is unique. I’m not an expert on anything Transformers. I remember watching the cartoons as a kid, nothing more. What does this necessarily do to a franchise? I’m thinking next to nothing seeing as it is one theme cover. I’m not sure why everyone is tearing MuteMath apart. They put on a wicked live show, their music has a unique sound and intense, meaningful lyrics. Even if you don’t like them… there’s no reason for such comments as “I wish this band would die…” or “is there anything holy left in this world.” These are disgustingly over-dramatic and wholly unnecessary. Say something good or constructive or shut up.

Still, that’s just what I think. I heard the whole soundtrack for the 2007 live-action movie, and I think it’s very good. And I was surprised to hear that Mutemath’s drummer is actually THAT fast. Wish I could hear them in concert. I’m sure it’s great.

Finally, there’s no need to kill the band because one song is bad. If we’d all do that, most bands would be buried by now. And music would be damn dead.
