Wikipedia can be either a treasure trove of information or a smelly mineshaft of deceit. Once in a while, Buzzgrinder staffers will stumble upon something on there that’s too glittery to pass up just because it’s not current. Music industry gold may just get better with age…
In an interview conducted around the mid-nineties, Kip Winger of Winger had it in for Lars and the rest of Metallica. There was a few seconds footage of Lars removing darts from a pinned-up picture of Kip.
That is why it’s the great irony that we ended up on that geeky guy’s shirt on Beavis & Butthead, because Metallica couldn’t play what we play, they couldn’t do it, they literally - technically couldn’t do it. And I’ll fucking challenge those chumps to a fight any day of the week, but we could play their music with our hands tied behind our back.
The incriminating video is after the jump. Check the 2:55 mark.

This week Travis Barker’s Plane Crash, Poor Grammar, and Bands Break Up. Check it out after the jump.

Travis Martin from See You Next Tuesday is going to be guest blogging about the many experiences of a touring band. On Tuesdays. Clever, right?
So what’s new since last week’s blog? Not a whole heck of a lot.
We played a couple of shows in Texas, were eaten alive by freakishly large Texan mosquitoes and saw some of our friends. Afterwards we drove the 258-hour trek home and — as far as Drew and I go — conquered a shitload of riddles while we did it. What gets wetter and wetter the more it dries? A towel. What can you catch but not throw? A cold. Clearly, I’m unstoppable.

First, Matt and Kim released the single Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare, from the upcoming album Grand, on RCRD LBL. Now Green Label Sound — a new music site sponsored by Mountain Dew, offering free downloads — has released Daylight. I saw that it was going to be released a bit ago, but I forgot to check back until today.
I talked to Matt about the song not too long ago, and here’s what he had to say:
It’s about how if things are shitty…going outside in the daytime is still going outside in the daytime. It can heal wounds. I think of childhood or other memories, and they’re all connected. And it’s always awesome.

I guess when so many bands use gas masks in their design, one way to mark yourself with distinction is to utilize the really huge ugly gray models that were marked down way below cost at the surplus store. Kind of like those birth control glasses you get in boot camp, but with a hint of danger.

Does everything in your record collection look as bad as the records above? Well if so, we can help. Three lucky winners will receive a copy of the new Jenny Lewis LP, Acid Tongue (you know, with the album cover that hurt Jay’s eyes). All you have to do is prove that your record collection really is that bad.
To win, take a picture of the worst piece of vinyl you own and email it to contest@buzzgrinder.com with BAD VINYL in the subject line and YES or NO to let us know if you want to get our email list. Deadline is Oct. 10 at midnight EST.

Musical and media figures say the darnedest things, especially when it comes to politics. Do their words of wisdom inspire you to vote, or should they just go back to dying their hair? You decide.
Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab has the financial crisis in the U.S. all figured out:
We’re going through a big recession and credit crunch and I think we should totally dig out Marx’s books and work on it. There are solutions. We don’t have to have this dysfunctional system. I think, on the contrary, more than ever today, I am proud to have revolutionary leanings.
How is Ms. Sadier not talking on CNN right now about this? Quick, someone tell Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that a singer has the answers!
There was a whole crapload of Christmas releases that I took the liberty of deleting. If you really care about those, you can look them up yourself.
I’m always ready for a new Ben Folds release. Anberlin has released the same album four times now. The Nightwatchman (a.k.a. Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello) has a new album that’s sure to be protest-a-licious. And I’m admittedly a fan of Joshua Radin’s Zach Braff-core. Other than that, maybe I’ll check out the new T.I. and Bleeding Through albums for kicks. Nothing else looks very interesting.

Recover is apparently back together, and they’re playing Photo Finish Records’ CMJ Showcase Oct. 23 at The Knitting Factory.
As you can recall, this is the band’s second reunion after playing the Everyone Knows Everyone music festival in Austin in 2007. Please comment back with your funniest Zao jokes, because you are witty and your mom thinks you’re important.
