Since the Buzzgrinder staff is so lazy, we’ve turned over operations to our friend Jacob Merritt, drummer of Pomegranates, for the day.
If you are a sports fan, a music fan, or a subscriber to People magazine, I’m sure you have caught wind of the whole Alex Rodriguez/Madonna ordeal.
Well, his wife has filed for divorce:
Alex Rodriguez’s relationship with Madonna was “an affair of the heart” – not “sexual infidelity” – according to Cynthia Rodriguez’s lawyer.
Still, the baseball star’s relationship with the singer “was the last straw” before the Yankee slugger’s wife filed for divorce Monday, her Houston attorney, Earle Lilly, tells PEOPLE.
Lilly says that A-Rod was smitten with Madonna, but makes no claim of any sexual liaison. “The correct analysis is a relationship,” he says. “Some people categorize an affair as something as sexual infidelity. We’re not claming that. It’s an affair of the heart.”
I raise this question: What difference does it make what kind of “affair” it was? Surely Alex knows that deep emotional intimacy with a woman who is’t his wife would be just as venomous to their marriage as a sexually promiscuous one. This is just one case we will see this week of people — regardless of their popularity or wealth — looking for fulfillment in the wrong places. Bummer. Bummer is a pretty big understatement.
So sad…why have we forgotten what it means to truly love and how have we missed the significance of marriage?
Its a sad day to be a houstonian :[
a-rod and the yankees suck
man, i was going to make light of the whole situation and say something like “Because of this, the Yankees deserved to lose last night against the Pirates”, but then Jacob got all serious, seeing these celebrities as real people with real emotions and real worth, and now I just feel like a jerk
Reportedly, his wife was cheating on him with Lenny Kravitz at the same time so who knows what to believe. The only obvious truth in all of this is that their child deserves sympathy from everyone…Even though it will receive ridiculous amounts of money from A-Rod’s record-setting contract.
