Video: Aaron Weiss - I Never Said That I Was Brave

Since it’s Friday and we could all use some happy times, here’s Aaron Weiss from mewithoutYou talking about loving your neighbor — quite eloquently for Aaron, I might add — and then playing an acoustic version of I Never Said That I Was Brave at Cornerstone.

And if you stick around long enough, he thanks Joby (assuming that’s Joby from Crash Rickshaw) off screen. Exciting!

wow I’ve never heard him talk that well. He always seems so timid when he speaks on stage. Great message!

Great message, horrible singing. I am an avid mewithoutYou fan,but it drives me nuts when Aaron “sings” like that. It seems so forced. Please go back to screaming.

    Go ahead, slaughter me.

The song really did not sound good :(. It didn’t help that the guitar was inaudible in the recording.

I think that he was so calm and spoke so well because he was at the Jesus Village- correct me if I’m wrong- but he ususally has a time that he take away from playing an actual set and does his own thing and speaks at a stage during the day. He also leads a bible study.

We played right after Aaron that stage.

Whew yeah, that song is terrible. I did enjoy the speaking. I could actually follow what he was talking about. I love the line, “Well if it ain’t you, then who is it?”

He was a lot less “with it” when I talked to him several months ago, he’s just unpredictable. A fascinating character though.

hey, I’m the dude who took this video. And I agree his talking was very good in this clip. The night before he had a discussion at the press tent and it was a totally different story. A guy asked him a spiritual question and he rambled on and on for over 90 minutes before I had to leave lol. But that’s what makes Aaron great.

btw I have hundreds of Cornerstone videos on youtube from 2003-08 including more mewithoutyou stuff, look me up, my name is zao24. The quality on this one was kind of poor because I had a bad tape.

aaron’s a pretty cool guy. i like listening to what he has to say. this summer, after a show, i got to talk to him on one on one for fifteen minutes or so. we talked about depression and doubt and hope and beauty. he was closing his eyes and praying, i think, while he spoke to me. opened up my eyes a bit. nice video.
