Anima - The Daily Grind

Although Germany isn’t a major leader in the Olympics, it’s home of one of the best progressive death metal bands currently touring. Anima has secured itself as one of my favorite bands to listen to. Sadly, they guys don’t live in the US, so our chances of ever seeing them live are small.

There are only so many tools that can be used in the craft of “deathcore,” and most bands today turn out sounding pretty generic. What’s neat about this album is how they try to include more traditional elements of metal instead of only playing the boring blast-beat-chugga-chugga-slow-down-all-song deal with a little breakdown. Anima brings a creatively written album, with all guys playing their parts masterfully. It’s heavy, tight and it’s fun to listen to. It’s set to hit the streets Aug. 25th, and I think you’d be happy to buy it.

Yeah, this on the other side is again pretty unimpressive, just like the words he’s saying midway through the first song…
