Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan isn’t going to Courtney Love’s daughter Frances’ Sweet 16 next month and Love is pissed. She blogs:
“A sweet sixteen is a big event and I think she looked upon you as family. I know she did, as a trustworthy and wise (child), and you can’t lay your shit on a child of nine, and you as a man of 40 - my child sobbing, due to you, is unacceptable. I hate stating this on some random public forum, but the line is the kid, man.”
It doesn’t stop there though. Apparently Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance is not only attending, but performing.
“Gearrd Way,, who would do it in five seconds and has even asked and begged for his bandmate to cancel out on the honeymoon of his (coinciding with the sweet sixteen) so he can do it, made sure to promise to be there.”
i guess you could say billy’s seeing some “tough love”… wucka wocka wacka

Billy has a band and a career to deal with. He also has a new single coming out in Sept. and a tour coming up. He has bigger things to do than attend a sweet sixteen party, no matter who it is. And OF COURSE Gerard Way would do it in a heart beat. He would love to fill in Billy’s shoes. He openly brown noses Billy anyway.

Billy Corgan said that Gerard and Mikey Way were his children, his “prodigy”, saying that he created them in the music for what they are today, or some shit like that. And they were very thrilled to hear this, both of them being die hard Smashing Pumpkins fans. Actually, it was a Smashing Pumpkins concert where they decided that was what he wanted to do when he grew up(they were 16 and 18 at the time)
I think she should just have a sweet sixteen party at Mcdonald’s and play on the outside playground and get happy meals and cupcakes. That would be COOL!

I give a fuck about SP. And frankly, I don’t care if I’m the only one here who does. Billy knows what he is doing. He is a smart man… smarter than a lot of bands out there now. And did you honestly think Billy was out of the spotlight? They put out a new album last year, played multiple festivals last summer, did a world tour up to December….where have you been? Under a rock with your Devil Wears Prada cd?

The thing you seem to be overlooking is that the new “Smashing Pumpkins” (really Zwan 2.0) is pretty fucking bad.

The last SP album and Zwan are nothing alike. The only thing alike is the fact Jimmy and Billy were in the band. Can you honestly hear any of the songs off Zeitgeist come from Mary Star of the Sea? I could break it down to the amps they used for each album as to how they are nothing alike.
I regret Corgan and that unrelated, idiotic youtube series for ruining that word.

Ok, I agree to a point. But you have to think, Billy has done most everything in the studio without any help from Iha or D’arcy. Even D’arcy came out and said that Adore should have been Billy’s first solo album because he practically did it by himself. But as far as live goes, that a different animal and James always nailed it live. I miss James and even D’arcy but if they don’t want any part of being in the Smashing Pumpkins anymore, what can you do? If it means they arent’ in the band anymore but I still get new SP, what do you think I’ll side with?
