No, not mixtapes. Muxtapes. The more tech-savvy among us with their newfangled RSS readers and what not probably started hearing the buzz about Muxtapes about a month ago, when it launched to immediate praise from music nerds all across the interwebs. I’m not sure why it’s so cool. Other than the fact that it’s really simple, doesn’t have copyright restrictions (yet) and it plays on your iPhone.
However, since its launch, it has become the outlet of choice for bloggers to one-up each other with their amazing music taste in 12 songs or less. So, in an effort to improve the signal-to-noise with so many Muxtapes, we’ve collected our personal favorites to present to you, dear readers.
Catbird: When people make a big fuss about something, Ryan Catbird is never far behind and ready to make fun of them.
Bwall05: No Internet craze is complete until you can RickRoll people with it.
2m42s: Because the perfect pop song will always be 2 minutes and 42 seconds long.
LowCountryHungryNeck: Loud is good.
Poohlaga: Worth it just for the Super Mario Bros. + NIN track.
Kokoro: This one is cool mostly because it’s got Children of Bodom covering The Ramones.
The All New Ani Zansari: Fugazi, Liars, Battles, Between the Buried and Me… mmm.
Okay, we’ve done our part. Now go over to Muxtape and tell us about your favorites in the comments. Or, even better: make your own.
