Dangerous Music Can’t Happen Anymore. Sorry.

robotsvsevil_big.jpgIn my latest column over at Zambooie I respond to the recent Geoff Rickly commotion. While I admire Mr. Rickly for being able to make a comfortable living, I disagree with his attack on the very machine that made his lifestyle possible. And the thought that modern music isn’t dangerous anymore?

“Music ain’t dangerous because dangerous takes time.

Go to local board meetings or pull a lever every four years?
Support a band or download an MP3?
Help the homeless or watch Lost?
Volunteer in your community or make out?”

Is it just me, or does Seth look an awful lot like Jay Bakker in this picture?

Any music that’s played over 115 db is pretty dangerous.

    FOR YOUR HEARING.

Seth, good blog…definitely agree with that.

p.s. I dug Thursday’s music but Geoff has some of the worse vocals ever. It’s like hearing a crow being killed by a lawnmower.

I took Seth’s post as thoughts that were “inspired” (hate that word) by Geoff’s blog – not necessarily contradicting it. So Absolutepunk readers are missing Seth’s point?

I think that being a terrorist sympathizing country artist would be pretty dangerous. It wouldn’t take much time or effort either. =) After all “freedom isn’t free”.

I agree with Rojas on this one. I’ve always enjoyed Thursday, but hated Geoff’s vocals until City By A Light Divided. He’s actually not bad in his side project, United Nations, either.

    Obviously Seth hates our freedom.

I did check that band out and they were pretty bad ass.
