You’ve all seen the shirts created by David & Goliath, the cutesy indie t-shirt company with pictures of cats and brownies and rulers saying ironic and arguably humorous things. Well, their tagline is “we make stupid stuff so you don’t have to,” and apparently they’ve really gone off the deep end in the “stupid” department.
The company recently released a shirt catering to women saying “No Means No. Well, maybe if I’m drunk.” The people over at Feministing.com were rather perturbed. D&G got a lot of negative emails about it, and they proceeded to pull the shirt.
Then, D&G offered the people over at Feministing a 10% discount on their “Miss Bitch” shirt with “Girl Power!” being the password to the “deal.” Now Feministing is calling for an all out boycott of the store.
What do you think? Did David & Goliath go too far? Is Feministing.com overreacting? Does anyone over 14 even wear those shirts? Is feministing a verb?

Todd Goldman and his company have always been sexist, though toward men so no one gave a shit. But really they should also be boycotted for stealing t-shirt designs. Todd Goldman is a bastard. A big bastard.
It’s nice to see someone stand up for themselves instead of apologizing everytime a feminist or animal rights group gets up in arms. They’re not always right (morality slightly aside).
i love it…very well played…people need to learn to not sweat the small stuff…and if they do i think they should be called out on it…and what better way than with humor?
(i must admit though that feminist and environmentalist just dont seem to know when to quit…its not even that i disagree with them…they just annoy thr HELL out of me)
they may not always be right…but i think they are in this case. sure, it’s just a t-shirt, but it still justifies and perpetuates a dangerous mentality among a lot guys (especially ones who are also drunk).
Femini/sting. Nope, it’s a noun.
The first mistake was pulling the shirt. I am not a fan of the shirt, nor do I agree with its message. However, I don’t agree with pulling products just because they might offend someone. I’d have cited freedom of speech and moved on with life.
Well, ok, i just reread the story, and i guess it’s not really about the shirt but the company’s “girl power” response. That’s immature and disrespectful, but I guess not as serious. Still, I don’t blame them for wanting to boycott. First, D&G puts out a product promoting the violation of women, and then they respond to the feminists complaints with this backhanded ‘deal’.
But, of course, they don’t do that until after they’ve pulled the shirt. If they wanted to take a stand against this group, they shouldn’t have pulled the shirt in the first place; that would’ve at least been consistent with their own sense of warped integrity. Instead, their actions are just mysogynistic AND cowardly.
I think both parties are stupid. However, in general I’m not a fan of feminists. The ones I have met are way too extreme (most of them are extreme environmentalists also). I’m all for respecting women, but I think it’s sometimes pretty ridiculous how upset they get about stupid things.
In addition, I agree with the whole “freedom of speech” comment and I kind of think it’s funny how a lot of people are all about freedom of speech as long as they agree with what’s being said (most of the feminists I know are guilty of this).
%5 off would’ve been pretty immature, but 10%!!! Now that’s just gracious! :O
Anything that pisses off feminazis is ok in my book.
Do not care one bit about what a t-shirt says.
that’s because you’re prejudiced against reading, jay.
I think it’s great that only guys have responded to this post. Wait do girls ever read buzzgrinder?
I think offering the “Miss Bitch” shirt as an apology is pretty funny.
Sean’s right =(
I totally concur with Steven. Feminazis must be put to death immediately.
sadly, the first t-shirt is not only comedic, but true. the fact that a feminist group got pissed about that sh*t is kind of funny in the first place.
its not funny.
Hey now, there will be no calls for death here, except directed towards Buzzgrinder staffers.
Nate is right. Where’s the ladies?
Who needs ladies except for kitchen work and breeding?
We can already tell what they would say here, anyways:
“You can’t have an opinion because you’re not a woman.”
“If women were in charge there wouldn’t be any wars.”
“What did you want first, Jay…the pot roast or the backrub?”
etc.
Please, someone take my last comment seriously.
What do you say to a woman with two black eyes?
Nothing. You already told her twice.
alisha and i must be the only females who frequent the pissing contest that is BG.
as for my feminine take on it: it’s a fuckin t-shirt.
if 12yo girls are out rockin such idiocy, then the parents need a stern talking-to. the 1st amendment trumps all the jane fondas and gloria steinems of the world.
[sidenote]
“What did you want first, Jay…the pot roast or the backrub?”
i’m sure lori would be proud.
Man, this is a total sausage fest. Booo!
Can Jay have a back rub whilst eating the pot roast?
Could Jay be dressed like a pot roast while giving others back rubs?
I’m actually gonna have to agree with the feminists on this one. The last thing this culture need is more encouragement to abuse of the female body (or sexuality in general).
And this is not an issue of freedom of speech. The government never got involved. These feministing people have every right to complain about something they don’t like, just as David & Goliath had every right to NOT cut their product if they had so chosen.
I will admit however that the boycott in response to disrespect is stupid. They should be able to take a joke.
Blake just figured the combination for heaven on earth.
Also Nat, I joke about whipping the wiff because she overcooks the roast all the time. At least she thinks it’s a joke.
JJ, i can understand why you’d be offended as you most surely have a vagina of your own.
you whiney woman.
Psshhaw. What’s wrong with having a vagina? How is this an insult? Women like you need to get over your insecurities.
wwwwwaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!11!1!!!
Riiiiight. I’ll give you one thing Vu, you’re definitely tempting me to make terribly misogynistic remarks, but I won’t do it. You’re one funny lady.
You can do it, JJ. She’s probably more of a man than all of us here…not physically of course. I have met her before, and she was rather female.
oh jay…it’s really just too fun panderin to the buzzgrinder masses under a naively uninformed facade. i’m mildly entertained at deluding JJ into thinkin he’s the big, rational masculine manmeat that’s come to save us ‘insecure’ & bewildered girls.
DiNeezy…don’t blow my cover.
“he’s the big, rational masculine manmeat” - Vu
Ha ha, you don’t realize just how accurate that description is. If only you knew.
im just mad that they pulled the shirt, i was going to buy one.
to JJ & all: let’s bring this back to a less nauseating subject…
the shirts are somewhat humorous, but asinine. you’re either too young or too old to rock a shirt with such messages.
personally, i’m not offended by them in the least. i just wouldn’t be caught dead in one.
Who seriously gets offended over a t-shirt? Certainly not me. Feminists are becoming a bit of a nuisance these days in my opinion. What a waste of time for them to go up in arms over a shirt! Get over it! By making such a big deal over this, the shirts have been given like a thousand times the exposure, too. Clearly those brilliant feminists have done good work here.
If feminists don’t like the shirts, they don’t need to buy them!!! I personally do like them, and I don’t want a bunch of fucking feminists keeping me from wearing clothes I think are cute!
Someone please submit this thread to that feminist site. Please.
Samantha and Katie sound like stupid Republican bitches.
I’m a liberal, you asshole. I just like David and Goliath tee-shirts and don’t want a bunch of stupid feminists keeping me from buying thim.
KEEP YER HANDS OFF MY SHIRT!

dammit.
What? You wanted one, Howard?
It’s a reference.. aww… screw it. Hell. Handbasket.
Huh?
I think the feminisers were over-reacting, and that D&G responded in a very rock n roll manner. Even if it was D&G. That was a good come-back, I’m proud.
FYI: I don’t care for that T-shirt. The Miss.Bitch one’s alright though~
well, now you’ve all done it, feministing.com is now boycotting the buzzgrinder t-shirt.
LMAO, “GIRL POWER!!!” That’s what I would have done if I was in that situation.
Ha ha, you stupid fat feminist c*nts! Soon America will get its common sense back and ship these stupid sad lesbian neurotic bitches to Siberia.
