Decemberists Release Tracklist for ‘Hazards of Love,’ Ruin My Dreams

When I first saw that the new Decemberists record was titled Hazards of Love, my mind was filled with possibilities. Would it be a concept album about a Brokeback Mountain-style romance between Beau and Luke? There was always hope.

However, now I’ve seen the tracklist, and my hopes have been dashed. Turns out there’s no Uncle Jesse. No Daisy. No Roscoe P. Coletrain. No Cooter. Not even Vance and Coy. Nope, it just looks like the usual “hey look at my overwrought song titles, they show that I’m smart and well-read” kind of thing you usually expect from Colin Meloy.

I fondly recall and long for those simpler times, when an artist announcing the names of songs on a CD was not considered news.
