I thought the last album was decent…I’d like to see some of that stuff live. I just still don’t understand why Scott is singing on anything, much less why there are new Jade Meridian songs.
Wow Zao has quite a history…there have been so many ups and downs, positives and negatives about this band. They’ve been incredible and inspiring at times and pathetic and embarassing at other times. Pretty fascinating
I love ZAO, the drama, the personalities, the ground-breaking music/art, and the spirit that drives the entire franchise to keep moving forward no matter what.
I thought Society’s Finest broke up right after “And I, the Drunkards” came out. If they came to Michigan after that I’ll be pissed because that was their first cd that I liked–and I love it.
ZAO was a great band for one good reason… They proved to the mainstream world that christians can be just as messed up as them (ie deserve their own reality show on E). now they both are friends and people like Stacy Orrico can push their music into the ears of everyone without having to tell them that some pasty white dudes in three piece suits wearing WWJD bracelets with bank accounts bigger than the state of alaska looked at her and said “yes, she makes good eye candy. correct the pitch of her vocals and plaster her face everywhere with a flat surface.”
anyone notice that britney spears thanks God on her records? BAD PR FOR CHRISTIANITY.
although thats a lot better than running a christian coffee shop called HeBrews.
This band will never go away - you realize that don’t you? Their existence is quitting - they wouldn’t be a band if they weren’t allowed to quit after every album.
Kevin of #24 gets the award. i think i mention this every time a Zao thread comes up, but i saw them more or less break up on stage in Pittsburgh one time with the Juliana Theory. Still kinda bitter. Still, I might actually try to make it to this show…
Oh, God, please make it stop.
braekin up
Also, this means I get to see them. Not that I really want to…
Of course its just for one show.
Maybe this will motivate them to do something.
Zao > Buzzgrinder readership. Fuck off.
Preach Danny.
and lol @ that pic Jay
Zao is ALIVE! Eh? EHH!?!
I bet Zao will draw more people for this show than Demon Hunter will.
That’s not Zao…

Scott Melinger==great guitar player but an absoultely horrible singer.
maybe they can get to Texas for a show..I’d like to see Zao again one last time.
didn’t see this coming. lolz.
Who’s Zao?
Forget Zao, Jade Meridian baby!
@ Adam
If that’s not Zao then please inform us all of who the “real” Zao is.
Shawn Jonas?
Brett Detar?
Russ Cogdell?
Pookie McFadden?

OKAY SO IS ZAO A CHRISTIAN BAND???? LEAVE 100 COMMENTS TO FIND OUT.
uhh this matters why?
Because Zao is a massively important metalcore band whether people acknowledge it or not.
Anyone see the Society’s Finest update where Josh Ashworth talks a lot about the Lord?
I did. He invoked the Dude like 5 times in one paragraph.
Where can I find that on Ashworth?
http://www.myspace.com/societysfinest check the newest blog
http://www.myspace.com/passchendaeleministries a ministry I think Josh either started or is working with.
I don’t know why everyone is so worked up - they will probably end up not showing up… Of the 5 “Zao shows” I’ve been to, they’ve played at 1.

Here.

Lambgoat hates Catholics…I mean Christians…I mean Mormons…I mean Jay.

if that was close by, I’d go. It’s not and I’m not, so whatever.
re: comment #8…
…Demon Hunter is pretty huge these days. Most new Christian metalcore fans would have no interest in this Zao band.
Thanks for the links fellas.
Demon Hunter sure does a lot for the hardcore community.
I love ZAO, the drama, the personalities, the ground-breaking music/art, and the spirit that drives the entire franchise to keep moving forward no matter what.
@ Sean
You know, the last original member… Jesse
This show would draw a lot more if Living Sacrifice was still on the bill.
Zao existed before Dan was in the band? I try to block that out of my memory.
(Except for the very end of that first album where he screams Jesus Christ…that’s pretty awesome.)

well it appears to me that everyone bought the zao documentary and are all experts… so here’s a new topic, I miss the old Demon Hunter.
