Foxy Shazam Singer Wishes He Was Black
Eric Sean Nally of the band Foxy Shazam is a family man. He’s young at heart, nearly married and a daddy. Says Nally,
“We have two kids, Francis Jordan, named after Michael Jordan, who is 1 1⁄2, and Julian Michael, also named after Jordan, who just turned 6.”
Father, basketball ball lover, and — apparently — someone who is not sure about the whole “white male” thing. When speaking of his school years, he spills the beans.
“I was probably one of only three white kids in my high school, and the other two acted black. I have a passion for (soul music) because I have always been around it.” (In fact, so great is his affection for and identification with black culture, at one point Nally says, “I really wish I was black.”)

Just saw them last night with SKSK and Finch in Tempe, AZ.
Even though this was Scary Kids’ hometown, lots left after Finch who blew the crowd away, with many chanting “One More Song.” Tickle Me Pink is like Fall Out Boy version 2.0 (in other words, not my thing). Foxy Shazam was good and had fun songs, but my only problem was their whole ‘too cool for school’ attitude on stage. That and someone needs to put the keyboardist in the back by the drums because his antics, again, seemed to almost take something away from their good tunes and he certainly was distracting… and not in a good way. Scary Kids were…. themselves. Pouyan is the man with all the charisma and unfortunately he doesn’t have Tyson’s voice, cause if he were they’re frontman SKSK would be twice as entertaining, and have one of the great frontmen in Rock.
But tonight that award went to Nate Barcalow of Finch as it often does. He started the night by belting out the Fisherman’s drinking game sing a-long (most notably from the movie “Jaws”) Acapella, – “Show me the way to go home/I’m tired and I wanna go to bed/I had a little drink about an hour ago/and it went straight to my head/ wherever I may roam/ by land or sea or foam….”, but instead of finishing the last line, he sang half of it “you will always hear me singing this song…” and as the guitars slowly built up distortion, the drumsticks clicked, and the band launched right in to “Perfection Through Silence”. It was an awesome sight. -

You’ve got to be kidding Paul? Sky’s and Eric’s “antics” are what makes Foxy so incredible live. Perhaps you should stick to something more your speed like Tom Jones.
