Guns N’ Roses Streaming Chinese Democracy on MySpace
Guns N’ Roses started streaming Chinese Democracy in its entirety at midnight EST. Oh boy! Not because I want to hear it, but because it means we’re one step closer to the Dr. Pepper.
as much as i want to poke fun of this, as i’m sure everyone will - i can’t deny that i’m still stoked out by axl’s voice. the music is what it is. but dude’s voice is unique - and that especially shows now, as he’s backed up by a weird industrial-having-sex-with-guitar solos band. the music could be ANYTHING, but this has just proven to me that axl has a really unique and charismatic voice…and no matter what lies behind it, he is lucky to have that kind of vocal presence.

ps. FUCK THAT TERRIBLE AUTOTUNE/PITCH-SHIFT BULLSHIT in the 4th song. where’s my goddamn dr. pepper?
First the Red Sox broke the curse, then a half-black man was elected as President, and now the release of Chinese Democracy draws nigh. Truly, the Apocalypse must soon be upon us. But the people shall nonetheless rejoice for the sweet, bubbly drink whose flavor no man can decipher will be bestowed upon them.
I better be able to get my free Dr. Pepper even though I am station overseas right now!. But I must admit I have listened to enough GnR in my life to be a little excited about this.

I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and I actually struggled through two songs and I have to say I wholeheartedly disagree with you. His voice is obnoxious, screechy, and abrasive. I couldn’t find a single redeemable quality in either song.
i understand jordan, i think it’s a case of…if you liked his voice before, you will now. but it’s definitely not going to win any new fans along the way, because he’s not really doing anything different.
I am trying to listen to the album completely through, but it’s difficult at times. I hear bits and pieces of Guns N’ Roses, but the industrial sounding parts turn me off a bit. it’s not terrible, but not the Guns N’ Roses I remember and enjoy.
Also not digging the autotune on “Street of Dreams.” Overall not a bad album for what it is, but there’s nothing spectacular enough in there to justify it taking so long to release.
The title track is actually really growing on me. There’s some totally badass Buckethead solos on this album. I’m kinda disappointed in the ballads though (like “Catcher in the Rye”). I agree that Axl has still got it in the vocal department though. I’m on the fence on whether or not I’ll buy it though. Depends on how much it is. Maybe I’ll buy it more as a historical relic.
I’ll try and make it short: I am a hardcore fan of the musical opus of the original GnR, but this new quasi-GnR album I find really hard to listen to. As much as I hate to admit it - Chinese Democracy is a total failure. I am disappointed, honestly - I expected more.
I must say… I listened to it more than once. I guess it was not love at first sight, but I’ll have to take back some of the things I said in my earlier post. It not that bad at all now that I gave it a second chance.

I held out hope for this release but it does nothing for me. And I wouldn’t drink Dr. Pepper even under extreme duress.

And what’s up with the Dr. Pepper?
@George: We all get a free Dr. Pepper when the album comes out.

Some lyrics aren’t that bad at all.

Funny how Buckethead hasn’t been in the band since 2004 but he’s still managed to be “lead guitar” on 12 out of the 14 tracks on this album.
the free Dr. Pepper thing was for one day only, and it was this past sunday.
@ sammy
I would wait a year and then purchase this historical relic in the $3.99 used bin at Hastings.
