Jess’ Top 10 Album List Of 2008
First off, I just want to say that my musical taste varies dramatically. I’m listening to Kiss Kiss by Chris Brown right now. Yes, I just admitted that. Well, with that being said, here goes my first ever written-out, share-with-the-world top 10 album list.
10. Sea Of Treachery – At Daggers Drawn
They have a new vocalist on this album that I enjoy a lot better than the last. Their live show sold
me as well.
9. Slipknot – All Hope Is Gone
It’s Slipknot. They brought the marching drum back. Kegs are drummed upon as well. A little sing-songy… but I enjoy that.
8. TI – Paper Trail
He recorded it under house arrest… The album as a whole is really catchy — plus there are guest apperances by Rihanna, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Kanye, and Swizz Beatz. You can’t really beat that.
7. Death Cab For Cutie- Narrow Stairs
GRAPEVINE FIRES. GRAPEVINE FIRES. GRAPEVINE FIRES.
6. Copeland – You Are My Sunshine
Solid album straight through. A definte step up from their last album, Eat, Sleep, Repeat. I love the female vocals on The Day I Lost My Voice (The Suitcase Song).
5. Haste The Day – Dreamer
Haste the Day has always been “that band” for me. This is the 2nd album with Stephen Keech on vocals and his vocals make me a lot happier than than ex-vocalist Jimmy Ryan. (Don’t get me wrong, Jimmy’s new project is totally legit…just not for Haste The Day)
4. New Found Glory – Tip Of The Iceberg/ International Superheroes of Hardcore – Takin’ It Ova!
Covers by Gorilla Biscuits and Lifetime have me sold. ISOH go on to sing about Captain Straight Edge, eBay, and Madball. Done and done.
3. Anathallo – Canopy Glow
Beautiful. That is all.
2. Coldplay – Viva La Vida/Prospekt’s March
Every track has personality. Death and All His Friends is my favorite track on Viva. Prospekt’s March features Jay-Z on Lost+. So good. Plus, how could I see them Live this year and NOT put them on my top ten?
1. Giants – Old Stories
Hometown heroes…if you will. At least to me. The songs flow so well from beginning to end. It’s epic.
It’s beautiful, and I love the build on While The Ages Steal.
Other albums that I throughly enjoyed:
Emery- While Broken Hearts Prevail
Gwen Stacy- The Life I Know
This Will Destroy You- s/t
Shai Hulud – Misanthrophy Pure
Electric President – Sleep Well
Hammock – Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow
Have Heart – Songs To Scream At The Sun
H2o – Nothing To Prove

@Sir Jorge @MikeyS: Ever heard of this radical idea called an opinion? You might want to check up on that before you get my interwebs dirty.
That being said, I’ll agree with the Copeland and New Found Glory choices. I know all the other bands/artists, but haven’t given them enough listens to say whether I’d top 10 them or not.
As for Haste the Day, I love the new cd. It’s amazing. Probably their best, in my opinion. Stephen’s vocals are top-notch this time around, and definitely fit their sound that they went for. However. I feel like the cd loses momentum after track 8, which is actually my favorite, due to lyrical content. Not saying the other songs are bad. Not at all. But it’s confusing to me, to hear all these powerful and fast paced songs and then have everything slow down towards the end. I can listen to those songs, but it’s always by themselves, not listening to the cd as a whole.

Hah.
Thanks for leaving me something good to come home to tonight, guys.Well, @sir jorse and mikeys- I’m gonna have to agree with David- and not just because it is MY top ten list, but because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You respect me, my opinion, and what I am listening to in my headphones and I’ll respect you and your opinions. You don’t like it? Don’t listen to it. Just a thought. Same goes for everyone else who thinks they need to need to make known for the world that their opinion is the only one that matters—and everyone elses is wrong.
YUP!

Marty wins the best comment ev-, who am I kidding, stop being such a douchebag. Everyone. Just because the internet gives you a hidding place doesn’t mean you have to abuse it. It’s one thing to say,
“Wow, definitely don’t agree with your list. I felt these releases were better…sblsdfkalsfjklsfjsf”
But to go and make fun of her for no reason? Come on. Are we seriously Lambgoat? Okay. Correction. Are YOU guys seriously Lambgoat? I personally do not like Slipknot. At all. The band holds no appeal to me whatsoever. But I’m not sitting here, pissing about how Jess is an idiot for liking them, or how the band should commit suicide. No, she’s not an idiot because she has the right to opinion and taste, just like everyone else is.
It’s the holidays, guys. If you don’t have anything positive to say, go eff off. Seriously.
Merry Christmas.
