Living Sacrifice is Back

Looks like Living Sacrifice is back in the game.
“LIVING SACRIFICE has returned. Founding members Bruce Fitzhugh (Vocals / Guitar) and Lance Garvin (Drums) have reunited with Rocky Gray (lead guitar) and Arthur Green (bass). The band will be on tour this summer and we are already writing material for our brand new album, which will be released in 2008.”

I just hope they go back to more of a Reborn/Hammering Process sound. Not a big fan of their final album. That being said I CANNOT wait to see this band deliver the absolutely TIGHTEST performances of any band that I have EVER seen. You can close your eyes and you don’t know for sure if you are listening to the band or their CD. WOOT!

If you honestly think LS is that similar to Meshuggah, you need to listen to more metal :p

Are you sure you heard Hammering Process (most especially) and Conceived in Fire? I don’t know if I’ve heard anything that sounds as much like Meshuggah. Sure, it may sound like Sepultura a little more, but still, they listen to a lot of it.
-
On 02/5/08 1:19 PM, magnumforce2006 said:
They have the focus on rhythm thing going on, but that’s about it. Living Sacrifice has mor of a focus on melody and groove while Meshuggah is much more cerebral and polyrhythm orietned.
There are tons of bands that sound more like Meshuggah:
1980
A Life Once Lost
Canvas Solaris
Coprofago
Das War
Hacride
Obsidian
Periphery
Textures
etc.In short, Living Sacrifice never sounded like Meshuggah at all to me, lol.

LS is the poor man’s Meshuggah. Except maybe not the poor man’s Meshuggah ’cause it may be more expensive to have two drummers try to pull off what one drummer does in Meshuggah.
Seriously. Here we are years later still talking about how LS sounds like Meshuggah. LOLZ
-
On 02/5/08 10:04 PM, Jay DiNitto said:
andy, LS’s drumming doesn’t sound anything like Haake’s. The 2nd drummer thing wasn’t for tech/polytempo purposes.

People, listen to “Conceived In Fire” and then listen to “Nothing.”
They sound…. NOTHING (lolol) alike.
Living Sacrifice is a thrashy, death metal influenced metal band that likes to play around with tribal percussive elements. Their songwriting is straight forward yet effective, focusing primarily on heavy yet melodic, groovy riffs, and the occasional solo or acoustic part here and there.
Meshuggah is loosely, LOOSELY a thrash band (some would refer to them as “post-thrash”), but essentially have their own ridiculously down-tuned, style. One that is based on repetition and slightly fluxing patterns, and polyrhythms.
These are two completely different bands with completely different goals.

Hopefully they don’t break up because some of the members want to start a crappy, female-fronted mainstream band. And to the dude that posted his dream lineup…. is Aletheian still around??? Last I heard they were recording something on an Unearth dude’s label or something.. and that was like a year or 2 ago… i thought those boys was deaddd.

Polyrhythm Schmolyrhythm…they play the same palm-muted riff over and over, just like Meshuggah. Anyways, they do probably sound more like Sepultura (more tribal-ish) anyways.
Didn’t they enjoy Solidstate? (unlike other bands) If so, I’m sure they’ll go with them, even though someone else would probably pick them up. Ferret is jumping on the Christian bandwagon now, so who knows. -
On 02/6/08 9:46 AM, Jay DiNitto said:

LS does it a few songs on an album, kind of like most other heavy bands.
Repetition is part of Meshuggah’s style, probably from their jazz influence (LS has no jazz influence at all). I think they do it sometal nerds and hip theory instructors can try and figure out what instrument/hand is playing in what tempo. Usually it ends in failure.

On 02/6/08 11:24 AM, trego said:

In the epic battle of christian rock I chose Zao as the heaviest band in the world and therefore hated Living Sacrife. I was silly. Maybe this time around I’ll enjoy them. Probably not.
