Since the Buzzgrinder staff is so lazy, we’ve turned over operations to our friend Jacob Merritt, drummer of Pomegranates, for the day.

Pomegranates has been living in Cincinnati for a little while now, and one of the most exciting things the town has going on is Midpoint Music Festival: 50,000 people and over 200 artists from all over North America converge on downtown Cinci for three days of great live music, workshops with pioneers in independent music/art and Q&A’s with great minds in the artistic community.
One of the frustrating parts about a record label family is that it’s often hard to spend time together. However, at this year’s Midpoint Music Festival, there is going to be a sort of Lujo reunion. Or union… Depending… Anyways, a bunch of the Lujo bands, and Erik and Jocelyn who run the label, are going to be hanging and playing music. So far the lineup is: Pomegranates, Baby Teeth, Look Mexico, Cool Hand Luke, Dark Romantics and Mouse Fire.
I know its a little ways off, but you should certainly make plans to attend! Good times and maybe cake will be had by all.
Little known fact: Lujo Records’ band the Dark Romantics donated a song to a little webseries about firefighters. Jump on YouTube and search “Vollies”. Song was “She’s a Fire”.
mmm.. i love cake.
I got Cool Hand Luke’s album: “The Sleeping House” early at cornerstone and it’s their best yet. I would say besides Suffering and The Hideous Thieves they are my favorite Lujo act.
