Vote Or Dye: Madonna

Musical and media figures say the darnedest things, especially when it comes to politics. Do their words of wisdom inspire you to vote, or should they just go back to dying their hair? You decide.

Oversimplified comparisons of highly visible figures — working in a vastly complex arena like politics — are surefire indicators that someone is intellectually ill-equipped to form a workable opinion on a topic.

Madonna, at a recent concert in Wales, made an exemplary fool of herself when she compared Republican candidate McCain to Hitler and Democrat candidate Obama to Gandhi, among other famous past socio-political icons.

This is symptomatic of surface-only thinking, and it infects all sides of the political spectrum. That’s fine if you want to show support for your favored campaigning politician, but to draw such insidious parallels is unbecoming and tasteless. It’s even more embarrassing when accompanied by some skanky techno-pop loopings.
