Morning Buzz: Coheed and Cambria, Hayes Carll, Eagles of Death Metal, Fleet Foxes

:: Coheed and Cambria is releasing a huge nine-disc box set. Nine Discs! Needless to say, 14-year-olds with too much disposable income are jumping up and down right now.

:: Songs:Illinois has the holiday-themed ditty Hayes Carll recently played on Imus. It’s no Bad Liver and a Broken Heart, but I’m Grateful For Christmas This Year country enough for me. He does hint at incest at one point, after all.

:: Stereogum takes a look at the new Andrew Bird record, Noble Beast. According to the ‘gum, it’s “too noodling.” I’m assuming that doesn’t refer to the process of sticking your arm in a hole, hoping a giant catfish bites it.

:: Eagles of Death Metal announced tour dates for February. Looks like it’s time for some Heart On A Plate.

:: Carlos Ramirez gives us a list of “10 Great Christian Rock Artists” over at IGN.

:: Fleet Foxes was on Conan Tuesday night. I had a little trouble sleeping — until the music started.

Not a bad list from IGN, although I can’t think of why he picked Atonement over Advent of a Miracle.

Lots of great bands were left off that list. I mean, we could have gone old school with bands like Scaterd Few, The 77′s, The Crucified, The Prayer Chain, Mortal..

I went ahead and put some comments on his IGN article.

I always preferred ATONEMENT Jay. I know I’m in the minority there. I caught a lot of flack for not including Underoath!

Nice list by IGN. I think Sufjan Stevens should be on there instead of Dashboard Confessional (whom I thought had left behind the christian tag when he left FSF). Also would’ve been nice to see Mute Math, Life In Your Way, Anathallo, Copeland, Mae, Hands, Living Sacrifice, etc., included as some kind of honorable mention or something. There’s really quite a few outstanding “christian bands” out there. I do agree with the list, though! Nicely done!
