Remember last week when we had that most annoying people list? Who was it that mentioned the lead singer of Disturbed? That’s right, it was I.
George, idolator blocked @ work. What doth it say? I’ve never heard of Draiman being annoying, but I don’t much about them. Must investigate.
Obviously that girl wasn’t looking that deeply into the lyrics.
The entire point of the albulm The Black Parade is not just “You’ll be remembered after you’re dead” but that life sucks, and death is no great escape. But your not letting anyone get to you and you’re not leaving this world without a fight. And I think multiple people, haters and fangirls alike, have made it clear that MCR are trying to get kids to NOT commit suicide. Marketing strategy or the real deal, I don’t know, but it’s supposed to be one of their main goals.
That makes it even more hilarious that it’s causing people to kill themselves.

Jay, it’s Dillinger talking about how ridiculous they (Disturbed) are backstage before a show. They choreograph their moves, like when to put a foot on a monitor and so forth. And then there’s a video of Disturbed with lead singer saying, “Are you ready!!!?? Then put your money where your mouth is!! We are Disturbed!! Shit yeah!!!!”
My dad went to one of their shows, and met them backstage. He said they’re a bunch of douche-bags.

dillinger is not a good band though. all of you indie fucks think they’re the shit because they put out cd’s of chaotic crap and noone outside of that little circle they’re in gives a damn about them. you also like them because they haven’t sold a decent amount of records in their career and your other indie friends say it’s still ok to be down with them. the last dillinger cd was alright, but other than that everything else they’ve done is irrelevant.

disturbed puts out music that prolly sounds like every one of their other cd’s each time around. that doesn’t mean they blow. it’s your opinion that they blow. you can think they blow and wear tight girls jeans while discussing how awesome going green is all day long if you want to. that won’t change the fact that disturbed will keep selling records more records than dep, keep getting better tours than dep, remain being a more professional band than dep, and continue making more money than dep. you loyal fans can say what you want about dep, but they’ll still be living with their parents ten years from now.

I will be the first to say that music has never been as smart as many people portray it to be. There is no hidden code in any music that, if found by paying close attention, will actually save their life or prohibit their death. And although there have been experiments of groups attempting to accomplish the exact opposite, it has never been proven to work.
I don’t have anything against them, though I am in no way a fan of MCR, and I have seen them live, right before the Black Parade came out, subsequently right before their fanbase got ridiculous and Gerard Way started being compared to David Bowie. Truth is, everyone interprets music in their own way. You interpreted it in a way that you believe saved you from committing suicide. Good. Suicide is a treacherous end result of years of social conflict and mental struggle, and anytime you hear about someone who loses their life to it is sad. It is not the end result of not reading deeply enough into the lyrics of a widely publicized (and overly talked about on the internet) rock band in parade outfits.
I interpreted MCR in a way that made me walk outside for a cigarette half-way through the third song. And looking back on it, I would say MCR was a good influence on me as far as that cigarette is concerned. It was one of the most satisfying I have had. Best part of the show was when Gerard Way told my friend to move his cable box out of his dressing room (that didn’t happen during their set).
PS - This “MCR SAVES LIVES” thing is a perfect marketing tool, and if they didn’t think that up, they should have.

Plenty of “indie fucks” say they like Dillinger not because it’s still cool in their circle, but because many fans of indie music are closet nerds who love math, and therefore DEPs tampering with ridiculous time signatures. Had Disturbed ever tested the mathematical capacity of both their music and their audience, maybe they would appeal to the indie group. However, for many, they wouldn’t simply based on the fact that they look like middle aged dudes barely hiding their track marks.
And, as every “indie fuck” knows, Disturbed is “more popular” than DEP because people with big bank accounts think they can make more money from them. They sell a lot because a lot of people buy what is put in front of them, not because it’s actually good. With enough money in marketing, you could sell a record of you showering, and profit on it! Mainstream music markets drives the majority of music sales, thanks to Clear Channel, FCC, RIAA, Soundscan, etc. and if you were an “indie fuck” you might know that.
I don’t even like Dillinger Escape Plan. I still think Disturbed fucking blows. The only people who like them are those stupid assholes whose musical taste is determined by whatever is popular on the radio. Sadly that seems to be the majority.

Again-I never said they saved my life or prevented me from commiting suicide. I like the music, and think that Gerard is pleasent to look at. I don’t know why everyone is getting a fucking seisure over this. But paulharper-I do appreciate that you are open minded and not blowing it completely out of proportion. I was just saying that MCR should not be blamed for this event, and that if she was THAT obsessed with them, she would know that they are anti-suicide and any for of self harm.
