Ryan Ross of Panic At The Disco is perhaps the smartest person in the world. He actually says, on record (to a small media outlet called MTV):
“We used to get compared to Fall Out Boy, and I don’t think that’s accurate at all, and I would say the Beatles comparison is more accurate.”
Kind of like how the last My Chemical Romance album being compared to Ziggy Stardust?
Don’t these mega bands have handlers? You know, paid people that advise them to not dis 50 Cent, or to not wear fur to a Humane Society event. Maybe at this interview with MTV they’d like, “Ix-nay on the Beatles-ay!”
Misattribution of the quote. Not that it’s any less pretentious, but according to MTV that was from their bassist, Jon Walker.
In stores or on radios, unless it’s one of a few select Fall Out Boy songs, I honestly can’t tell which band it is.
the beatles???
I would say the steaming pile of shit comparison is most accurate.
At least they ditched the exclamation point (though it doesn’t make them any cooler).
Seth, Can we still just use the “!” in their name?.. just for kicks?
jesus, first they compare themselves to radiohead, now the beatles? hhhhhhhahahhahahahaaaaa
news like this is why i can’t stop coming to this site!
Well someone needs to get started on the chart comparing the new PATD to Sgt. Peppers. Maybe that thread can reach 2000 posts.
I Don’t Think Bands Should Compare Themselves To Other Bands I Love Panic At The Disco.
But Really C’mon They Sounds As Much As The Beatles As The Academy Is Does….NONE.
Is that a Fall Out Boy song title?
I remember posting a while back on them saying they wanted to be the next Radiohead asking why they didn’t shot a little higher “Like, The Beatles”.
Ridiculusly out of proportion ego much?
You might want to wait untill your the size of U2 to start thinking like that~
PATD compared themselves to The Beatles… doesn’t suprise me. At least one of them did.
They are closer to the beatles then
Fall Out Boy.
At first glance, their new album does sound a lot like the Beatles, but once you get used to it, they don’t really sound that much alike. I’m not saying PATD sucks, they’re my favorite band, but they’re a different style from the Beatles. And they don’t sound anything like Fall Out Boy.
Seriously, if you actually LISTEN to the music you’ll realize they sound NOTHING like Fall Out Boy. And it does kind of remind you of the Beatles at first glance, because the Beatles are one of their main influences.
Panic at the Disco sounds nothing like the Beatles. They sound like every other shitty band associated with Fall Out Boy.
in these comments - a bunch of people who have only heard that shitty goddamn door song as opposed to Panic’s brilliant new album
The Beatles? Just ridiculous to say. Retarded.
The bots are in full force in this thread.
Monitoring will continue…
I am of the opinion that the new Panic record has some good songs on it, and is definitely heavily influenced by 60’s Brit-Rock; but to say that you sound like the greatest band in the history of the world is completely outlandish. Especially when you’re in Panic at the Disco.
Travis, the greatest band in the history of the world is Mr. Bungle. And I can assure you that neither PATD, Fall out Boy or The Beatles (much less The Shitty Beatles) sound like Mr. Bungle.
It’s a matter of opinion, but you couldn’t be further from the truth. I do everything in my power to avoid anything that involves Mike Patton, though I do appreciate your Wayne’s World reference.
Mr. Bungle sucks ass. Mike Patton is one of music’s biggest shitheads.
