Radiohead Charges For Nude Remix

\"Nude\" Remix
Radiohead wants you to upload remixes of their second single, Nude. These remixes will then be voted on.

So what if you have to buy the individual pieces off iTunes. Charging per instrument is a business model that’s full of possibilities.

if all albums were sold by individual instrument track I wonder how much a Linkin Park album would cost.

@Brian: $12 and you’d never have to buy a Linkin Park album ever again.

Wow. _Incredibly_ stupid move to charge for this.

Of course, the Radiohead fan-boys will lap this up.

But really — charging for the “privilege” to remix a song. Charging FIVE TIMES the cost of the complete song to get a separate copy that you can remix FOR the record label (read the fine print — the label owns anything and everything that you come up with).

    Wow.

    Just… wow

I’m amazed that they are garnering such goodwill from all around for this stunt. First, you have to pay for the stems. Second, nude is what I’d be feeling if I submitted a remix, with terms like that. They even own it if you made original compositions for the remix, unbelievable. Third, as Ben already pointed out, NIN did this three years ago.

I hope somebody interviews Trent Reznor and asks him about this (:

how could they not be garnering goodwill? they’re radiohead. if they tried to sell some turds pressed into the shape of a 7 inch, everyone would be praising it.

I actually remixed one of the NIN tracks and had a blast tinkering with it and seeing what all went into the final mix. It was a bold move for someone like Trent Reznor to give up a bit of control and say “Here, see what you come up with” Even going so far as to make it as convenient as possible for amateurs to get into it by making Garage Band files and distributing them for free. Since then I’ve heard of a few other bands trying similar experiments with varying degrees of success. For Radiohead to jump on this bandwagon and have the nerve to charge for it is rather sickening as it is exactly the sort of move a major label would pull. The same type of business model they seemed so happy to be rid of and yet are emulating so faithfully now.

They’ve always been overrated and pretentious, but now they’re hypocritical too.
