Slipknot’s New Album, New Masks

Slipknot, the masked hard rock band, is set to release its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, on Aug. 26. To coincide with this venture, the band will also unveil new masks. Frontman Corey Taylor talks about the new record:

“Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men.”

I’ll tell you where you are. You’re grown men in masks.

je - I didn’t like their last one as much as the s/t. It wasn’t as consistent but like you said there’s some strong points. If they got rid of some the cheesy vocals and some of the more stupid lyrics I would actually call myself a fan (don’t care about how they look, really).

personally, i think the band is awesome. i acctually didnt like vermillion though, because it clashes with the overall heavy metal feel of the band. admittingly, some of their songs outright suck, but there’s just as many good ones. on the note of the masks, i find that, with acceptions, masks can bring forward specific parts of a person’s personality. this cannot necicarily be said for all of slipknot, but there are those out there who use the mask idea rather well. and really, i like sid’s masks more than the rest. at least his change in a neat fasion that keeps an aspect of the original while altering the overall design.
