Trenches Signs to Solid State

Trenches Signs to Solid State

Trenches, Jimmy Ryan’s (ex-Haste the Day) new project, signed to Solid State.

So we are super excited to officially announce that we have signed with Solid State Records and have a new album coming out called “The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole” on September 16th! We’ve put up a brand new song on our page from the album called “Sacrament.”

Everything I’ve heard from this band I dig so far. Kind of sounds like a mix of Cult of Luna and The Deftones, but still kind of their own sound.

Solid State……a label for bands that had singers that left, but then created a new band and joined the same label as the old band.

    Also, loves me teh Trenchzorz

I imagine SS is like every other label and has a Key member clause. Which typically says that any band member listed in the contract as a key member of the band is bound to the record label. At the very least, the label has a first look option of any future bands those key members create while the contract is still active.

I’ve always heard that Brandon Ebil’s biggest regret is allowing the singer of a new signee do a side project on another label. Who knew back then that Chris Carrabba would leave FSF to pursue Dashboard full time and would be worth millions to the label that had the rights to the DC records.

Sounds great, someone needs to do a vinyl version on 180gm black. Get on it.

First Rights of Refusal clause, too. I think that’s the phrasing.

thanks Jay! I don’t have my recording contract book here with me at work.

I notice the album name has changed. I think I liked the original better. Seemed to make more sense with the art, but then, I haven’t seen the interior.

Sammy–I agree. Definitely better that HTD

Matt–Definitely can hear Cult of Luna and Deftones influences for sure.

Jay–Definitely dig that first song for sure.

May have to buy this when it comes out.

What? They signed with Solid State? That was completely unexpected!

Anyway, I think you’re right Jay. But there will also generally be something in the band’s contract that says they are jointly and individually bound to the contract which would basically imply, although not explicitly state, a right of first refusal clause.

Saw these guys at cornerstone…they played tooth and nail day- fore-shadowing, perhaps? hah.

They had an amazing set.Everyone was throwing down and really getting into it. Jimmy was totally cool about everything and looked like he wanted to be there.

I’m not going to lie- I’m very [pleasantly] surprised by all the positive feed-back. When they were first forming- I think they caught a lot of shit from the BG gang.

On another note- new htd song posted. I’m digging it…

Jimmy has that special quality about him that sets him apart from other leads.

I love seeing Jimmy live, there’s just something about that.

That, and seeing Aletheian live (that one is for you Seth).
