Unearth - Alive From The Apocalypse DVD
Unearth has to be one of the best metal bands in existence. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re super talented, fun to watch, and their live shows are near as tight as their studio albums. I’ve always been entertained (and sometimes put off) by their over the top antics and seemingly outright arrogance while performing. I mean, how many boogers can Ken Susi really eat, anyway? But just as Unearth consistently works to give their best shows and best recordings, this 2-disc DVD is no different.
The first disc is a live show they played at the Glasshouse in CA, and it’s neither better or worse than any of the times I’ve seen them live. What really sets this DVD apart from most others is the 2nd disc, showing one of the best metal documentaries in production. It starts at the band’s inception, their humble beginnings in eastern Massachusetts then leading to where they’re packing out open air festivals. They lined up a stellar cast of bands and industry professionals who lend their own stories and perspectives. All of this makes for an amazing story, and it’s inspiring for any band who wants to see how hard work can pay off. At the very least you’ll get to know the band a little better.
