Weekend Old School: Downset - Anger

Downset

The first time I heard of Downset was when they released ‘Do We Speak A Dead Language.’ I was so excited to find a secular non-secular band. The morality in the album really spoke to many of my friends and me. Based on that I decided to buy the S/T and was really struck by how angry the content was. I always wondered what happened to move content so drastically from killing on the S/T to preaching about the evils of sex on the second album.

I remember seeing Downset with Earth Crisis and Damnation A.D. in i think 1996. That was the best show! But the best part about it was the singer from Downset was dancing during the other bands. And he kept saying something about it not being a football game? i guess with all the metal heads moshing. All he did was just make fun of them but all in good fun. Wow what a great show!

chad, I remember that same tour. At my show in Clinton MA I think Vision of Disorder played. That was an awesome show, though. One of the best I’ve been to.

Matthew, don’t forget the album after this where they really really didn’t like white people and got angry about things that happened a long time ago and not to them.

The next album is “Do We Speak A Dead Language” I don’t remember there being anti white speech. Then again I haven’t listened to it in awhile. hah

Shoot, my fault. I meant the album after Language…Check Your People I think. The one after Rey was kinda sorta Christian.
