Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – I Am Goodbye
This is one of the worst videos I’ve seen in a while, but Bonnie “Prince” Billy makes it work in a way that only Will Oldham can. Sometimes I think Oldham plays the part of “the artist” — i.e. goes out of his way to be weird on purpose — just to see what he can get away with. And the indiscriminate “freethinkers” eat it up. How else do you explain this outfit?
But what can I say? The dude writes some good songs. I’ve been jamming his new album, Beware, for a few months now, and it keeps getting better. It’s a top notch country record, and that’s why I like it.
