Chinese Bands Think American Indie Rockers Are Fat
Chinese indie label Maybe Mars recently exported three of their acts — Carsick Cars, P.K.14 and Xiao He — over to the States for an East Coast tour to showcase what Beijing’s music scene has to offer.
During the tour, the bands learned something about hipsters and indie rock kids on this side of the Pacific that surprised them:
We assumed that Americans are fat, so we brought some very large shirts. But people that are into the indie scene tend to be skinny, so we had to bring our XXL shirts back

All I eat is Chinese buffet food and I’m fat! They must totally run like a half mile a week to be that skinny!

After spending a few months in China, I can see how Chinese people would assume that.
