Photos: Heartless Bastards at MPMF
If there’s one thing Heartless Bastards frontlady Erika Wennerstrom can do, it’s wail. Only thing is, even though everyone in the band plays really well — they do it while just standing around. That means there isn’t much replay value when it comes to seeing them live more than once (which I’ve done). You can guarantee it’ll always be tight and everyone will be on, musically speaking. But that isn’t enough when it comes to repeat viewing.
That’s not to say they’re boring or uninspired. However, when I think about bands going off, I think about their set ending with bloody faces.
