Church basements are great venues for shows. Not just because there’s a great amount of personal memories attached to the venue species, but because everyone just seems to be on their best behavior because of the looming nature of the space upstairs.

Not that there will be a glut of tough guys looking to administer a beatdown this Friday night at the Westminster Church, but Hand Drawn Mountains (supported by About A Mile and Sam Goodwill) will shake the foundations as if there were a rumble going down. And to top it off, it’s their CD release show. That tends to make the kids go just a little more nutty.

   Missed About A Mile due to bridge construction that threw me off my pigeon-sense of downtown Butler. Boo.

   Sam Goodwill was good and very soul-y.

   Hand Drawn Mtns was great. Never saw them before but the vibe they gave off was fun as monkeybarrels.

   I don’t know much about this music so this is a complete n00b opinion.
