Jawbox’s J. Robbins: Savory Was an Easy Choice for Reunion on Fallon

Buzzgrinder just got done chatting with Jawbox frontman J. Robbins about the reissue of the band’s seminal For Your Own Special Sweetheart, not selling out, how they got a spot on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the fact that they won’t be doing a full reunion (you know, like playing shows and stuff), plus a few other subjects — all of which you’ll be seeing soon.
But since we don’t want to leave you hanging completely, here’s what Robbins had to say about the how he and the gang decided to play Savory for their Fallon appearance:
We decided without even deciding. When the opportunity came up, we just leapt to the conclusion that we should play Savory without even talking about it. There was never any discussion or asking, “Hey should we play Savory?” We all just said, “We better start practicing Savory.”
It’s also the song we played the one time we appeared on Late Night, when it was Late Night With Conan O’Brien. So there’s the fact that it’s Late Night again, we’ll resprise it.
I’ve looked far and wide for the video of Jawbox on Conan, but to no avail. Can I have a little help from my friends?
