M83 Playing Last Call with Carson Daly Tonight
Sometimes I think Carson Daly could be funny if he learned how to execute a joke. It’s tough if he’s butchering good material, or if it’s just all bad. Either way, M83 is taking a big step down in the late night talk world since the band’s appearance on Conan in January. But at least you get to see them play tonight, right?
M83 is one of those bands that frustrate me. I shouldn’t like them, but I seem to flip flop daily. And today I’m for them. Probably hate them tomorrow, though — but who knows. I said the same thing about Rory Calhoun. Oh how I miss you, Rory Calhoun.

Have you listened to “Before the Dawn Heals Us”? Most of that record doesn’t come across as hokey as the new one does (which, in my humble opinion, is due to the album artwork & “graveyard girl”). When Gonzales puts his mind to it, he makes some of the BEST soundscapes in a world that’s quickly filling with bad MBV & Explosions in the Sky-imitators.
Anyhow, thanks for the post! I’ll definitely be tuning in tonight.
