M.I.A. Speaking Out About Sri Lanka Conflict, 140 Characters at a Time
M.I.A. — who was recently included in the 2009 Time 100 — hasn’t allowed some accusations of supporting terrorism to stop her from speaking out about the state of war-torn Sri Lanka — at least on Twitter, anyway.
The rapper was tweeting up a storm about it over the weekend, with six separate tweets about the plight of the Tamil people. It’s nice to see that she’s taking a stand… on a social networking site famous for letting everyone know that you like your hamburger from Whataburger dressed differently than you do at In-N-Out Burger.
The saddest part is that I’ve never had a burger from either of those fine establishments. I just settle for Rax Roast Beef when I go back home to rural Ohio.
