Michael Zapruder – Dragon Chinese Cocktail Horoscope

Michael Zapruder – Dragon Chinese Cocktail Horoscope
Score: 7.219

When I listen to Michael Zapruder’s latest solo effort (is it a solo album if you have 15 people on the album?), I get a lot of stuff. There’s some Rufus Wainwright, Arcade Fire, Vic Chesnutt, and maybe even a little Beck.

Then there’s the wide range of instrumentation. Some songs are large, sprawling machinations, while others end up being solitary numbers with little more than guitar and some words. You might be hard-pressed to say some songs are on the same record if you listened to them separately.

Sounds like a disjointed, tough-to-follow amalgamation of stuff, doesn’t it? Well, if not for Zapruder’s songwriting and delivery, it would be incomprehensible. But he does a good job of keeping everything tied together.

Awesome cd!!! Type of cd you would want to listen while drinking a bottle wine on a spring/summer night outside looking at the cd.
