Morning Buzz: Death Cab For Cutie, M83, Metallica, Meshuggah

:: Death Cab For Cutie will be releasing an EP containing tracks that didn’t make the cut for Narrow Stairs. Yowza. If they weren’t “good enough” for that album…

:: As it happens, M83 did not appear on Last Call with Carson Daly last night. That’s what I get for trusting three-week-old press releases over the guide button on my TV. But they’re scheduled for Wednesday, so there.

:: Metallica’s bassist, Robert Trujillo, has publicly professed his love for Meshuggah. That might be a little cooler if it was coming from a “real” member of the band.

:: Anni Rossi stopped in for a Lounge Act on WOXY around the same time we brought her to Louisville for a show. While in the studio, she discussed “recording [4AD debut Rockwell] in one day in Chicago with Steve Albini.” Steve Albini is dreamy.

:: Coming from anyone other than Britney Spears, this latest faux pas might seem surprising.

:: Random tracks that don’t suck:
This Town Needs Guns – 26 Is Dancier Than 4
The Anniversary – The D in Detroit
Coconut Records – Microphone

My question is, why does Britney NEED to have on a live mic when she is lip-syncing all of her songs? It’s all staged too.

    Ouch.

Trujillo paid his dues in Suicidal Tendencies and with Ozzy so that was obviously more than enough for Metallica to ask him to join the band.

    It’s been 5 years already Sean..let it go. :)
