Morning Buzz: Decemberists, Of Montreal, Jennifer Hudson
:: The Decemberists will be playing The Hazards of Love in its entirety during SXSW, overwrought song titles and all.
:: Of Montreal recently stopped by Spinner’s Interface for a performance. There’s also a tour coming up for the band. No word if peen-showing and bareback horse riding on stage will be involved.
:: Mr. Sean R. Soni and Mr. Matthew C. Jenkins were right, Jennifer Hudson lip-synced her Super Bowl performance. But, of course, folks are already offering excuses. I thought Faith Hill‘s performance looked even more obvious, but I haven’t heard one way or the other anywhere.
:: My man the Crustcake Gerf clues us in to three bands on the rise.
:: Yngwie Malmsteen allegedly got fleeced by his accountant, and the courts agreed. He was recently awarded $820,000 in damages. Malmsteen doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who has $820 lying around, much less $820,000.

Apparently her manager suggested that she pre-record the anthem and lip sync, saying that too many things can go wrong and that he didn’t want her under any more pressure than she already was with it being her first performance since the deaths of her family members. I gotta give her credit for even making an appearance this soon after such a tragedy. I probably wouldn’t be able to do it.

Ahhh the joys of internet recognition… but for this one fleeting moment I can truly say “I was a giant amongst men.”

Hudson’s performance (lip-synched or not) was one of the best parts of the Super Bowl — second to the ads of course
