Morning Buzz: Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Phil Varone, John Mayer
:: There’s always the joke about the band saying they love one city while playing in another. Well, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan one upped that. He thanked the wrong country!
:: How can China and Russia become better friends? Oh yeah, a song contest. Duh!
:: If I knew that all you had to do to get a doctorate these days was get really, really high while you write mediocre music, I would’ve been on the ball a long time ago. Thanks for the heads up, Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd.
:: Former Saigon Kick/Skid Row drummer Phil Varone will be appearing on Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew, which the title describes pretty well.
:: New Hawthorne Heights album coming? Oh boy, I can’t wait. That was sarcasm, by the way.
:: John Mayer isn’t doing himself any favors these days, it seems. Thanks to Emogame, I can only think of Mayer as a supervillain riding a giant flying douchebag. Dave from Rawkblog seems to have a less-than-stellar opinion of the dude, too.

pink floyd…mediocre music? hahaha. that’s why most of the people who play music today and are promoted on this site wish they could do something a tenth as good as ANY of their WORST albums.

look, pink floyd is one of those bands that’s super overrated. they aren’t horrible, but the music really is just mediocre at best. they aren’t the beatles. or the stones. or the beach boys. or the who. or the stooges. or 13th floor elevators. or the kinks. or, well, any number of bands from roughly the same era.

i’m not saying they are the best, i DO agree with you on that. the stones are my faves…but they are not just mediocre. when you think about the fact that they were the first to use alot of the technology on that album, and how they were already masters of it and made amazing atmospheric music. maybe the songs aren’t always there but the music is.
